Winemaker Notes
In staying true to our high quality expectations, we decided not to make a Walla Walla Valley Chardonnay in 2017 and so it was a real pleasure to have the quality and return to our beautiful valley in 2018 with this single-vineyard wine. The vines are now really starting to show off and balance out. I love to pick Chardonnay very early in the season to retain natural acid and low alcohol levels. Green apple, loads of fresh cut pear, lemon rind, and the slightest hint of whipped cream are exploding from the glass—very pretty and entrancing aromatically. There is a fantastic balance in this wine—while we focus on acid retention and being acid driven, there is great richness and an elegance that I really enjoy. I am tremendously happy with this new Elizabeth Chardonnay!
