JOSH'S NOTES - 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
It seems like yesterday that we were knee-deep, quite literally, in the 2019 harvest. Dark ruby in the glass, it opens up aromatically in the same fashion. Dark fruits like blackberry and Bing Cherry, followed up by graphite, wood shavings, and baking spice. Ultra-balanced with long, fine-tannins and great acidity. The finish on this wine is incredible - which is something that I love about great Cabernet. Drink now through the next 15-20 years.
JOSH'S NOTES - 2019 Stolen Horse Syrah
Walla Walla has crazy diversity within its soil compositions and microclimates to grow wine grapes in. With Syrah, we are really able to showcase that, but are also able to make one blend that is overall, quintessentially Walla Walla. This vintage is a blend of four separate vineyards - all extremely different than the other and makes for maybe my favorite Stolen Horse yet. Hints of smoked meat, green olives, iodine, and berry reduction sauce. This wine has incredible mouthfeel, great texture, absolutely silky tannins, and great acid. Excited to see how this evolves over the coming years!
JOSH'S NOTES - 2020 Elizabeth Chardonnay
We have become big believers in the ability of Chardonnay to do very well in Walla Walla. As a winemaker, you can't get any closer to your wines than by actually growing them yourself. This is the first year that we have our own estate Chardonnay as part of the blend right from the Flying B Estate where our sister winery, Doubleback, is located. The new vintage is slightly golden in color and rips out of the glass with lemon zest, hints of straw, recently harvested wheat fields, and finishes with freshly cut Fuji apples. Tremendous balance of richness and acid, a bit more texturally rich than in years past, and a bright and fresh finish that lasts for a long time. We are excited for another great Elizabeth!
