Stuart Bledsoe, Drew’s grandfather, was a highly decorated Naval Pilot in WWII. One of his squadron mates waxed poetic about his life on a cattle ranch. At the end of the war, Stu decided to take the “romantic” life of a cattle rancher and move his young family to Central Washington where they homesteaded the Flying B Ranch. We are now proud to call our homestead, the Flying B Vineyard, as a tribute to Stu.
Named a “Game Changer of Washington Wine,” a “Washington Prodigy,” and “Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of America” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, we just call him boss. Born and raised in Walla Walla, Josh fell in love with the wine industry at an early age and started his first winery when he was in high school.
They say it takes a village and this is ours. In 2019 we were able to start our own farming company. These passionate, dedicated people allow us to have complete control from dirt to bottle. The results have been more meaningful than we could have ever anticipated. Josh used to pride himself in saying that nobody knew our vineyards better than he but is proud to say that this crew has proven him otherwise!
While these hands aren’t so little anymore, Drew and Maura’s children actually helped plant some of the vines up at our McQueen vineyard back in 2007.
W.S.U. will always hold a special place in my heart. Playing for Coach Price and the Cougs was an amazing experience. Once a Coug, always a Coug! – Drew Bledsoe
If grace, fire, brilliance, and heart had a name it would be Maura. The amazing woman behind the man is one that we all hugely admire and one that plays a bigger part in our family story than pages could record.
Hard work, passion, and many hours are behind every bottle you open. The backdrop to those hours is just a bonus.
